2016 – 2017 New theatre and community arts venue, Streatham
A new development of high social value in Streatham (community facilities, theatre, catering) including an independent theatre design proposal (by David Hughes Architects), following an initial assessment for London Square property developers and Lambeth Borough Council (a Section 106 project). Developed a tendering process for the new operator and have recently finished 12 months of supporting the appointed operator to create their new financial and business plans. Due to open in 2018.
2014 - 2016 Chime Audiology
Fully costed, five-year business and implementation plans (including a Proof of Concept development) for linked Social Enterprise development projects in Exeter and the South West (included financial appraisals, developing income and expenditure projections, revenue estimates, sensitivity analysis and market analysis). Town Centre and satellite centre funded, created and open.
2015 New community building and theatre, Twickenham
Worked with Brian Harris for London Borough of Richmond Upon Thames and the developer to investigate all aspects of the operation and eventual business plan for the new centre (a Section 106 project). We brought in a specialist architect (Tim Foster) to make design changes to support a range of operational models for the building (which includes a 300-seat performance space and 6 large spaces for multiple use) which we then had to score and measure comparative SROI and economic impact to support decision-making. The project included creating new communication tools for extensive local consultations (both online and hard copy questionnaires, stakeholder presentations and meetings, ‘free’ feedback via social media) and negotiations with potential partners and funders (such as a commercial cinema operator and adult and community education provider Richmond Adult and Community College) – completed.
2014-15 King’s Theatre, Southsea
Detailed business plan, architectural options review and fundraising strategy for the Kings Theatre, Southsea (including costed business plans to 2021, with new spaces and additional capital sources and revenue streams) on behalf of the Trustees. Part of the project team with Tim Ronalds Architects and Brian Harris Arts. This included substantial work on adapting Frank Matcham’s original theatre design to service contemporary customers and providing commercial revenue streams, whilst also preserving the building’s heritage and integrity – project is currently fundraising.
